Aera Technology is a decision-intelligence company founded in 2017 and headquartered in Mountain View, California. Where planning tools help humans decide, Aera aims to automate the decisions themselves — sensing what is happening across a supply chain, recommending an action, and in many cases executing it.

Its platform is built around what Aera calls Cognitive Skills: machine-learning models plus, increasingly, AI agents that monitor operations, predict outcomes, and recommend or automate responses such as reordering, rebalancing inventory, or adjusting production. This decision-automation and agentic layer is the product, not a wrapper on top of dashboards. Accenture Ventures invested in Aera in May 2026, and the company has been named a Gartner Leader in decision intelligence.

The honest framing: Aera is a genuine AI bet on autonomous decision-making for operations, with ML and agents doing real work. The harder questions are organizational as much as technical — how much decision authority a company is willing to hand to software — which is exactly the frontier decision intelligence is pushing on.
