Amazon's AI strategy spans multiple divisions. Beyond cloud and consumer AI, Amazon uses AI extensively in its core operations — powering product recommendations, warehouse robotics, delivery route optimization, fraud detection, and the Just Walk Out cashierless store technology. Amazon's combination of massive cloud infrastructure, huge proprietary datasets, significant AI investments (Anthropic, custom chips), and AI-driven operations makes it one of the most comprehensive AI companies in the world, even as it competes with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud for AI workload market share.

Alexa+ has expanded beyond conversational queries into generative audio with Alexa+ Podcasts, an Alexa+ feature that turns any topic into a custom AI-narrated podcast episode in minutes. Users can adjust length, tone, and focus mid-conversation; episodes are saved to the Alexa app and Echo Show devices for replay. To ground responses in current events, Amazon licensed content from the Associated Press, Reuters, The Washington Post, TIME, Forbes, Business Insider, Politico, USA Today, and more than 200 local U.S. newspapers. Alexa+ Podcasts is bundled into Alexa+ at no extra cost and is complimentary for Prime members — positioning Amazon as a direct competitor to Google's NotebookLM Audio Overviews in the consumer AI-audio category while leveraging Prime's installed base for distribution.
