Apple Inc. is the world's most valuable company by market capitalization, known for an integrated hardware-software ecosystem spanning iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro and services. It was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne.

Apple's AI strategy centers on Apple Intelligence, a personal intelligence system integrated across iOS, iPadOS and macOS, with on-device models for writing tools and image generation and a substantially rebuilt Siri that has conversational context, on-screen awareness and the ability to act across apps. The most consequential shift is that Apple no longer builds or sources its assistant from one place: the rebuilt Siri runs on a custom Google Gemini model hosted inside Apple's own Private Cloud Compute, under a contract barring Google from training on Apple users' queries, while an Extensions system lets a user route Siri to Claude, Gemini or Grok — ending the earlier exclusivity of ChatGPT as the only external option. Apple has said expanded access to server-side features will eventually carry a fee, which would make it the first paid tier of Apple Intelligence.

Differentiation runs through privacy and silicon. Most features run on-device using Apple's custom Neural Engine, with Private Cloud Compute handling heavier work under cryptographic privacy guarantees — a structural contrast with cloud-dependent competitors. That silicon is also the one place Apple sells directly to AI developers: its top desktop configurations pair hundreds of gigabytes of unified memory with very high bandwidth and can run models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on device. The strategic point is capacity rather than raw speed, since unified memory lets a single desktop hold models that no consumer discrete-GPU workstation at the same price can load at all, and the Mac has become the default machine for private, local inference.

Its first device built around the rebuilt Siri is HomeView, a 299 dollar, 7-inch smart display that opened for preorders on October 13, 2026 and ships November 13, recognizing up to six household members and routing Siri requests on the device or through Private Cloud Compute.

Two complications belong in the profile. Apple's AI marketing produced the first major legal precedent for AI capability claims, a 250 million dollar class-action settlement over allegations it misrepresented the availability of Apple Intelligence — particularly an upgraded Siri — at launch, with no admission of wrongdoing. And in Greater China, Apple Intelligence runs on an entirely different stack: regulators cleared a filing naming Alibaba's Qwen as the model handling text and image understanding for Chinese users, with Baidu contributing alongside it, after Apple spent roughly two years unable to ship the feature set in its largest market outside the United States.
