Founded in 2010 and based in Sydney, Australia, Archistar raised roughly 6 million dollars in a Series A led by AirTree Ventures, on top of about 11 million dollars in earlier funding that included NAB Ventures, for roughly 20 million dollars total. In 2026 it moved into US deployments — Los Angeles adopted it for post-wildfire rebuild permitting through the California governor's office, Austin ran a zoning-review beta, and there was further activity in Seattle and Honolulu.

AI plan review is genuinely nascent, reaching only about 2 percent of US cities, and a pass-or-fail result is decision-support rather than the legal permit — a human plans examiner still signs off, and accuracy depends on how well local codes are digitized.
