📋About Bearing AI

Updated July 22, 2026

Bearing AI is a maritime-AI company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Palo Alto, California, that helps shipping companies burn less fuel. Its platform uses machine-learning vessel-performance models to optimize voyages — speed, routing, trim — and to support emissions and CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator) compliance. It is backed by Mitsui and AI Fund, deployed on more than three hundred vessels at the shipping line "K" Line, with a StormGeo partnership.

The genuine AI is the vessel-performance and fuel-consumption modeling: learning how a specific ship actually behaves and recommending how to run it most efficiently.

The honest framing: Bearing AI is a load-bearing-AI company where the performance models are the core product. It is a focused specialist in the fuel-and-emissions-optimization corner of shipping.
