📋About Boeing

Updated July 4, 2026

Boeing is one of the world's largest aerospace companies, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, with major commercial-aircraft, defense, and space businesses. In missile defense it is the long-time prime contractor for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system that protects the US against long-range ballistic missiles.

For the US Golden Dome program, Boeing's role runs through its GMD incumbency and its Millennium Space Systems subsidiary, which builds missile-tracking satellites — including 'FOO Fighter' fire-control-quality tracking spacecraft — for the Space Development Agency's tracking layer. AI enters at the sensor-fusion and tracking-software level of these systems.

The honest framing: Boeing is fundamentally a hardware and platform company — an AI adopter whose AI is embedded in systems rather than sold as a product. It earns a place on the platform more as a defining aerospace-and-defense player than on the strength of a distinct AI story, and its Golden Dome participation is part of an early, contested program.
