📋About Dassault Systèmes

Updated June 24, 2026

Dassault Systèmes is a French multinational software company headquartered in Vélizy-Villacoublay, France, and one of the world's largest providers of 3D design, engineering, and product-lifecycle-management software. Founded in 1981, it develops SOLIDWORKS, the most widely used mainstream mechanical CAD application, alongside CATIA for advanced product design, SIMULIA for simulation, and the cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform that ties design, simulation, manufacturing, and data management together. Dassault has moved aggressively into AI: SOLIDWORKS now ships an AI virtual companion called Aura that suggests designs and answers engineering questions, and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is gaining a family of AI companions — Aura, Leo, and Marie — built on the Mistral AI foundation model and hosted on a sovereign European cloud. For mechanical engineers, Dassault is one of the central platforms where day-to-day design work is being reshaped by AI.
