Updated June 22, 2026ETAP, founded in 1986 and based in Irvine, California (now a Schneider Electric company), develops the leading software for electrical power-system design, analysis, and operation. Power engineers use ETAP to model load flow, short-circuit, protection, and arc-flash across industrial plants, utilities, data centers, and transportation systems. ETAP has pushed hard into AI: its physics-based electrical digital twin combines a virtual replica of a facility's power infrastructure with real-time data and intelligent algorithms that predict consumption and distribution, and in partnership with Schneider Electric and NVIDIA it built a digital twin that simulates AI-factory power requirements from the grid to the chip. ETAP 2026 added more than fifty AI-augmented features under the banner of continuous energy intelligence. For power-systems engineers, ETAP is a cornerstone tool.
