📋About Genspark

Updated August 4, 2026

Genspark, legally Mainfunc Inc., is a Palo Alto agentic-AI company led by chief executive Eric Jing, a Microsoft veteran who was a founding member of the Bing team before a senior stint at Baidu. The company launched in June 2024 as an AI-powered search engine, reached roughly two million users in that form, then pivoted in 2025 to what it calls an agentic workspace — software where an autonomous agent does the work rather than a chat box that answers questions about it.

The core product is Super Agent, built on what Genspark describes as a mixture-of-agents architecture: rather than training its own frontier model, the system orchestrates dozens of third-party models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and DeepSeek alongside a large internal library of automation tools, routing each step of a task to whichever model handles it best. The pitch is that a single natural-language prompt returns a finished business deliverable — a deck, a spreadsheet model, a research memo — rather than text a human still has to assemble. That model-agnostic posture is the strategic bet: Genspark competes on orchestration and product surface rather than on owning the underlying intelligence, which insulates it from any one lab's pricing but leaves it dependent on all of them.

Genspark raised $275 million in November 2025, led by Emergence Capital, with SBI Investment, LG Electronics' startup fund, Pavilion Capital and Uphonest Capital participating.

In August 2026 the company open-sourced GenOffice, a desktop office suite — word processor, spreadsheet, presentations and PDF — under the Apache License 2.0, with the Super Agent embedded inside each document rather than in a side panel. Releasing a free, ad-free, permissively licensed office suite is an unusually aggressive move against Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, though the shipped build is an alpha and its AI features still route through Genspark's cloud on the company's credits.
