📋About Gritt Robotics

Updated July 21, 2026

Gritt Robotics is a US robotics-and-AI startup building physical-AI systems that automate large-scale outdoor construction, starting with utility-scale solar. Rather than building proprietary robots, Gritt writes the AI that controls off-the-shelf industrial hardware — robotic arms and construction machinery — to handle the repetitive, physically punishing outdoor work of building energy infrastructure: picking and placing components, assembly, transport, inspection, and site planning. On solar projects, its systems unload, carry, and position panels on metal racking with sub-millimeter precision, leaving human crews to fasten them. Gritt says an eight-person crew using its systems can install three to four thousand panels a day, versus roughly eight hundred by hand — about a four-times efficiency gain with no added labor — and it has signed contracts to help build 2.8 gigawatts of solar over eighteen months. The company was recognized by the US Department of Energy as a top American solar innovator, and its systems are deployed at multiple job sites alongside several of the largest US construction firms. Founded by robotics researchers from Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, and MIT and led by chief executive Puneet Puri and chief technology officer Vishal Dugar, Gritt raised 34 million dollars, including a 26 million dollar Series A led by Obvious Ventures, with Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Climactic, and Congruent Ventures also backing the company.
