📋About L3Harris Technologies

Updated July 4, 2026

L3Harris Technologies is a US defense-technology company formed by the 2019 merger of L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation, headquartered in Melbourne, Florida. It specializes in sensors, communications, electronic warfare, and space payloads.

For the US Golden Dome program and the underlying Space Development Agency architecture, L3Harris builds missile-tracking satellites and infrared payloads — including work under the SDA tracking layer (an 843 million dollar 2025 award) and 'FOO Fighter' fire-control-quality tracking sensors — plus command-and-control gateways that move data across the defense network. AI enters mainly at the sensor-processing and data-fusion layer.

The honest framing: L3Harris is a sensors-and-hardware prime — an AI adopter whose AI is incidental to its imaging and communications payloads rather than a first-party AI product. As with the rest of Golden Dome, its role is part of an early, still-forming, and hotly-debated program.
