MathWorks, founded in 1984 and based in Natick, Massachusetts, develops MATLAB and Simulink, the software environment that has become the de facto standard for electrical, control, and signal-processing engineering across industry and academia. Engineers use MATLAB and Simulink for control-system design, signal and image processing, wireless communications, and power-system studies — modeling a plant, designing a controller, generating code, and verifying the system end to end.
