Mujin is a robot-intelligence company founded in 2011 and headquartered in Tokyo, that makes industrial robots genuinely autonomous. Rather than building its own arms, Mujin builds the "brain" — a controller and software layer that lets robots from many manufacturers perceive their surroundings and plan their own motions in real time.

Its core product, MujinOS, combines 3D perception with autonomous motion planning so that a robot can handle variable objects and changing environments without being hand-programmed for every motion — a no-code approach that orchestrates arms from vendors such as FANUC, Yaskawa, and Kawasaki. Mujin raised a 233 million dollar Series D in December 2025 at a valuation above one billion dollars, has signaled an intent to go public by 2030, and introduced a new MCX2 controller at the MODEX 2026 trade show.

The honest framing: Mujin's load-bearing AI is real-time perception and planning that replaces manual robot programming. Its vendor-agnostic "intelligence layer" positioning is distinctive — it competes less on hardware and more on making everyone else's hardware autonomous.
