Updated July 6, 2026Nansen is an on-chain analytics platform founded in 2020 by Alex Svanevik, Lars Bakke Krogvig, and Evgeny Medvedev, and run by a distributed, Singapore-based team. Named after the polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen, it enriches raw blockchain data with hundreds of millions of wallet labels so that crypto investors can see past anonymous addresses — following the Smart Money of funds and profitable traders, researching tokens, and, since 2025, executing trades.
Its best-known products are Smart Money, which tracks a curated set of high-performing wallets; Token God Mode, for deep single-token analysis; and Wallet Profiler, which breaks down any wallet's behavior and profit and loss. The durable moat is the label database itself — a blend of heuristics, on-chain rules, curated tagging, and machine-learning clustering rather than a single predictive model, which is why much of the platform's older AI framing is better described as well-labeled analytics.
In September 2025 Nansen launched Nansen AI, a large-language-model and agentic product trained on on-chain data that answers natural-language research questions and can execute trades — its first genuinely generative-AI feature, and a notable pivot from neutral analytics toward research-plus-execution. Nansen is privately held, backed by a 2021 Series B led by Accel with Andreessen Horowitz, Tiger Global, and GIC among its investors. Its label counts and benchmark claims are company-reported, and its Smart Money signal is backward-looking — useful context, not a guarantee of future performance.
