Updated July 4, 2026OpenGov builds cloud software for local government — enterprise resource planning (ERP) and finance, procurement, permitting and licensing, and asset management — serving roughly 1,900 customers across all 50 US states. Its AI layer centers on OG Assist, a built-in assistant, together with a generative Scope Builder that drafts bid and solicitation documents, plus AI for budget scenarios and permit-code validation.
In February 2024, Cox Enterprises took majority ownership in a deal reported at roughly 1.8 billion dollars in valuation. OpenGov expanded its Public Service Platform with OG Assist in April 2026 and acquired Ignatius to strengthen its AI and workflow capabilities.
AI drafting of procurement scopes and AI validation of permits against code both need human and legal review, and some capabilities have been described in partly forward-looking terms, so availability should be verified per feature.
