Path Robotics is a physical-AI company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, focused on autonomous robotic welding — a domain crippled by a severe shortage of skilled welders and by the difficulty of programming welding robots for high-mix, low-volume parts.

Path's systems scan a part with computer vision, understand its geometry, and then plan and execute the weld autonomously — "physical AI for welding" that replaces the slow manual programming traditional welding robots require. The company reported more than one hundred million dollars in bookings in 2025, signed a memorandum of understanding with Huntington Ingalls Industries for Navy shipbuilding, and launched a mobile welding system called Rove at the Sea-Air-Space 2026 exposition. (Despite an earlier shutdown rumor, the company is active and growing.)

The honest framing: Path's load-bearing AI is vision-based scanning plus autonomous weld-path planning, which is genuinely differentiated for high-mix fabrication where programming every part by hand is impractical. Its traction in defense and heavy fabrication reflects where that capability is worth the most.
