Prepared

Prepared is an AI assistant for 911 call centers, providing real-time call transcription, multilingual translation, caller-location and multimedia intake (texts, photos, and live video), and AI triage and summarization for overwhelmed telecommunicators. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in New York, it launched what it described as the first end-to-end assistive-AI platform for emergency response in December 2024.

The company raised an 80 million dollar Series C in May 2025, led by General Catalyst with a16z, First Round, and Radical Ventures, bringing total funding past 130 million dollars. In October 2025, Axon Enterprise acquired Prepared for about 640 million dollars. It reports more than 1,000 partner agencies protecting nearly 100 million people across 49 states.

The honest concern is that in a life-safety context AI errors carry real weight: speech-recognition and translation mistakes can misroute or delay a response, so the AI must augment — never replace — trained telecommunicators, and Axon's ownership concentrates the entire call-to-report pipeline in one vendor.
