📋About Ramp

Updated August 26, 2026

Ramp is a corporate spend-management company — corporate cards, expense management and accounts payable — founded in 2019 and headquartered in New York. Its founders, Eric Glyman and Karim Atiyeh, met as classmates at Harvard and had previously built the price-tracking app Paribus, which Capital One acquired in 2016; Gene Lee co-founded Ramp with them. The company raised $750 million in June 2026, led by ICONIQ Capital with Singapore's GIC and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, bringing total funding past $3 billion.

Ramp is included here as an AI vendor rather than as an adopter, on the strength of one product. In August 2026 it launched Router, a model-routing layer that sends each API request to the cheapest model clearing a stated performance bar, with automatic failover between providers. Ramp had run the router internally for roughly three years against its own inference bills before selling it, and acquired the domain router.com to launch it under.

The strategic logic runs through Ramp's existing business rather than away from it. Ramp's core product exists to show companies where their money goes and to cut what they spend; AI inference has become one of the fastest-growing and least legible line items on a modern software company's books. A routing layer that reduces that bill is a spend-management product that happens to be built out of machine learning, which is why it arrived from a fintech rather than from an infrastructure vendor.

The timing placed Ramp directly against OpenRouter, the category's incumbent, which had agreed days earlier to sell itself to Stripe — leaving the two best-known neutral routing layers owned by payments companies. Ramp is a private company; the structured valuation field on this page carries its most recent round.
