Sandvik (OTC ADR: SDVKY; Stockholm: SAND) is a Swedish high-tech engineering group and a leader in underground mining automation through its AutoMine platform. Where Caterpillar and Komatsu dominate autonomous haulage in large open-pit mines, AutoMine is the counterpart underground — automating loaders, trucks, and drill rigs with 3D perception and fleet coordination in the confined, GPS-denied environment of an underground mine. In 2025 Sandvik launched AutoMine Aura, described as the biggest upgrade to the platform in two decades, along with an AutoMine Surface Fleet offering. Sandvik is a genuine AI-and-automation vendor; underground automation improves both safety (removing people from hazardous areas) and productivity, and its adoption tracks mining capital spending and the industry's push to automate.
