Updated July 4, 2026Saronic is a defense company, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, that builds AI-piloted autonomous surface vessels for the US Navy. Its lineup ranges from the smaller Spyglass and Cutlass to the Corsair and the larger Marauder, each running an autonomy stack designed for crewless naval missions such as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, escort, and contested logistics.
Rather than buying hulls from third parties, Saronic is vertically integrating shipbuilding, operating a yard in Franklin, Louisiana, and building a new facility called 'Port Alpha.' The company reports targeting more than 20 ships per year by 2027, backed by a roughly 300 million dollar Louisiana yard expansion.
In March 2026 Saronic closed a 1.75 billion dollar Series D at a 9.25 billion dollar valuation, led by Kleiner Perkins — more than doubling a roughly 4 billion dollar valuation from early 2025. It also holds a 392 million dollar US Navy production contract awarded in December 2025.
Honest framing: autonomous naval vessels raise lethal-autonomy and rules-of-engagement questions if armed, though the current framing centers ISR and logistics with human oversight. The production-scale targets are forward-looking and unproven, and the valuation runs well ahead of a delivered fleet.
