Saudi Aramco

Saudi Aramco (Tadawul: 2222) is the world's largest oil producer and, by some measures, one of the most valuable companies on earth. It appears here as a standout AI adopter rather than an AI vendor. Aramco built METABRAIN, a proprietary large-scale generative-AI model trained on roughly nine decades of the company's own energy and operational data, and reports hundreds of AI use cases across the business — well placement, drilling, predictive maintenance, and downstream forecasting — with a large share already deployed. In 2025 and 2026 it moved toward more commercial and industrial-grade AI, partnering with chipmakers to build "AI factories." The honest framing is that, unlike Western oil majors whose AI is largely internal, Aramco has a genuinely notable named model in METABRAIN — but it is still fundamentally an oil company using AI to run better, not an AI-product vendor; its value rests on oil and gas, with AI as an efficiency layer.
