📋About True Anomaly

Updated July 4, 2026

True Anomaly is a space-security company founded in 2022 by US Air Force and Space Force veterans, headquartered in Centennial, Colorado. It is one of the few startups focused exclusively on orbital defense — building both spacecraft and the autonomy software to operate them.

Its two core products are Jackal, an autonomous orbital vehicle designed to maneuver, rendezvous with, and inspect other satellites, and Mosaic, a mission-autonomy and command-and-control software platform. Mosaic is where the genuine AI sits: it plans and executes on-orbit maneuvers, fuses space-domain-awareness data, and lets operators supervise autonomous spacecraft rather than fly them manually. In April 2026 True Anomaly was named one of twelve companies selected for space-based-interceptor prototype work under the US Golden Dome homeland missile-defense program.

The company has raised roughly one billion dollars, including a large 2026 round that lifted its valuation to about 2.2 billion dollars. The honest framing: orbital-defense autonomy is real and demonstrated, but Golden Dome is an early, contested program of prototype contracts (ceilings, not obligated funds), and autonomous spacecraft that can approach — or intercept — others raise real questions about escalation and human control in orbit.
