📋About Turion Space

Updated July 4, 2026

Turion Space is an early-stage space-technology company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Irvine, California, focused on space-domain awareness and on-orbit servicing. It builds satellites that observe other objects in orbit and the software to make sense of what they see.

Its AI angle centers on STARFIRE, an AI-powered space-domain-awareness and sensor-tasking system, and DROID, its AI-driven on-orbit maneuvering capability. Turion was recognized as a performer for space-based-interceptor prototype work under the US Golden Dome homeland missile-defense program.

The company is smaller and earlier than most Golden Dome names, having raised on the order of a 75 million dollar Series B. The honest framing: its AI is genuine but early and less proven than the established players, and — like the whole program — its Golden Dome role is a prototype effort in a contested, still-forming initiative.
