📋About Vannevar Labs

Updated July 4, 2026

Vannevar Labs is a defense technology company founded in 2019 by Brett Granberg and Nini Moorhead, headquartered in Palo Alto, California. It builds AI-powered open-source intelligence (OSINT) and foreign-threat intelligence tools for military and foreign-policy customers.

Its flagship platform, Decrypt, ingests and analyzes vast multilingual open-source and non-traditional data to help users understand, track, and respond to foreign actors — supporting missions such as counter-disinformation, maritime domain awareness, and Indo-Pacific operations. The company has grown to more than 200 employees as of December 2025.

Vannevar Labs has raised roughly 91.5 million dollars across three rounds, including a 75 million dollar Series B led by Felicis in January 2023, and was valued at approximately 575 million dollars in 2024. In November 2024 it secured a production contract with a 99 million dollar ceiling, of which 16 million dollars was obligated at award.

Because much of its work targets foreign actors from open-source data, Vannevar Labs sits at the center of genuine surveillance, privacy, and civil-liberties debates — and its classified-setting effectiveness is difficult to audit independently.
