What Is Honeywell Forge?

Honeywell Forge is Honeywell's enterprise industrial-software platform — a cloud-based system that connects operational-technology data from physical assets and applies analytics, machine learning, and increasingly generative AI on top of it. "Operational technology" means the systems that run physical operations: building HVAC and security, process-plant equipment, aircraft systems, and energy infrastructure. Forge gathers data from those assets and turns it into monitoring, prediction, and optimization.

Rather than a single product, Forge is a family of vertical editions — commonly branded Forge Performance+ — spanning buildings and commercial real estate, industrials and process operations, and aerospace. Its buyers are large enterprises and asset operators: facility and portfolio managers, plant operators, and aircraft maintenance organizations. Two kinds of AI already ship in Forge. The second is closed-loop energy optimization for buildings, where machine learning continuously and automatically adjusts HVAC setpoints to cut energy use without a person in the loop. These are real, deployed capabilities rather than demonstrations.

The newer and more ambitious layer is a collaboration with Google Cloud, announced in late 2024, to build industrial AI agents that pair Google's Gemini models on Vertex AI with Forge's operational data. In early 2025 Honeywell unveiled an AI Assistant and a Forge AI Agent built on that foundation, with two roles: an engineer agent that automates design and engineering tasks, and a technician agent that answers natural-language maintenance questions such as how a unit performed overnight. Honeywell said the first Google-Cloud-built solutions would reach customers during 2025; their real-world breadth is still maturing, so this agentic layer is best read as early rather than fully proven.

The Forge Editions

Forge is sold as vertical editions tuned to each industry. Forge Performance+ for Buildings covers energy optimization, predictive maintenance, and tenant and visitor management for commercial real estate. Forge Performance+ for Industrials focuses on asset performance, site performance, and workforce intelligence for manufacturing and process operations. Forge Performance+ for Aerospace brings predictive maintenance and operations intelligence to aircraft manufacturing and maintenance. Honeywell has also extended the platform into operational-technology cybersecurity with AI-driven anomaly detection for industrial environments.
