📋About SAP

Updated June 15, 2026

SAP SE is the world's largest enterprise application software company, founded in 1972 in Germany. With over 400,000 customers in 190 countries and annual revenues exceeding $35 billion, SAP provides ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), supply chain management, human capital management, and business analytics software that runs the core operations of most of the world's largest companies.

SAP has integrated AI throughout its product portfolio through SAP Business AI, with Joule as its AI copilot. Joule provides natural language access to SAP applications — enabling users to ask questions, generate reports, automate workflows, and take actions across SAP's enterprise suite. SAP has embedded AI capabilities in specific modules: intelligent invoice processing in finance, predictive demand planning in supply chain, skills-based talent matching in HR, and autonomous procurement agents.

SAP's enterprise dominance means its AI features are deployed into the most critical business processes on earth — the systems that manage supply chains, financial transactions, and human resources for 87% of global commerce. The company's AI strategy focuses on trusted, enterprise-grade AI that works within existing compliance frameworks, making it the primary pathway through which traditional enterprises adopt AI in their core operations.

In May 2026, SAP committed more than 1 billion euros over four years to build a globally leading frontier AI lab in Europe through the acquisition of Prior Labs, the German startup behind TabPFN — a foundation-model approach optimized for the structured tabular data inside enterprise systems rather than free-form text. SAP signed a definitive agreement on May 4, 2026; the deal is expected to close in Q2 or Q3 of 2026 pending regulatory approval, and Prior Labs will continue as an independent research entity within the SAP portfolio. Earlier the same week, SAP also announced an agreement to acquire Dremio to unify SAP and non-SAP data for agentic AI workloads, deepening the company's structured-data + agentic-AI thesis ahead of broader enterprise AI rollout.
