AI now brings in more than half of SpaceX's revenue, at 7.6 billion dollars a quarter
SpaceX reported third-quarter revenue of $14.6 billion, up 161 percent from a year earlier, and its renamed Super Intelligence segment supplied 7.6 billion dollars of it, up from 2.6 billion dollars in the second quarter. The jump came from new cloud contracts that rent out its computing capacity, the Cursor acquisition and paid use of Grok. Compute reached 1.7 gigawatts at the end of September. The segment earned $431 million from operations after a 1.2 billion dollar stock charge tied to Cursor, while spending 16.4 billion dollars on new equipment in the quarter. Elon Musk said power and cooling, not chips, now limit how fast AI can be deployed.

Meta pauses Muse's sharing feature after researchers find private chats through public records
Security firm Claroc said it found 6,800 shared Muse conversations without being given a single link, because each share address put the chat's title in the web domain itself, where public DNS records log it. Among the few hundred it opened were a loan application, a company's internal revenue review and a staff vacation calendar. Meta told Ars Technica it has paused sharing while it reviews the report. It is the second security problem for Muse in a month, after a September flaw let any app on a Mac take over a user's account, and it lands as the agent passed 10 million US downloads in 40 days, according to Sensor Tower.

Claude finds 493 needless openings in open-source code, and OpenSSH closes one
Anthropic's Frontier Red Team ran Claude over 25 open-source projects totaling more than five million lines of code, looking for code that is reachable when it does not need to be, rather than for individual bugs. It reported 493 issues, including 94 pairs of settings that quietly switched off a security control when used together. In one, a server set to accept only trusted clients accepted anyone, and the conflict had sat in the code for 21 years. In OpenSSH, Claude showed that new post-quantum signature code ran before login, and the fix in version 10.6 cut the code an unauthenticated client can reach by roughly a fifth.

OpenAI buys Orchestra Bio to coordinate the work of bringing a drug to market
OpenAI acquired Orchestra Bio, a four-year-old startup whose AI agents track studies, schedules and dependencies across a drug program, so that a failed manufacturing batch flags the clinical trial it will delay. The team joins Rosalind, OpenAI's life-sciences models and research workbench, with the aim of building agents that carry a finding through to the studies and decisions that follow it. Terms were not disclosed; TechCrunch reports the startup had raised about $20 million from backers including Andreessen Horowitz and 8VC.

Mistral's Voxtral 3 bundles new speech models with a kit for building voice agents
Voxtral 3 pairs new transcription models, which Mistral says beat Whisper and ElevenLabs' Scribe on multilingual accuracy across more than 50 languages, with a text-to-speech model whose voices shift emotion and pace to fit the conversation in 35-plus languages. A new developer kit joins listening, reasoning, tool calls and speech into one live stream for phone and web agents. The smaller transcription model costs about a third of a cent per minute, speech costs $13 per million characters, and both run on Mistral's EU-hosted service or on a customer's own servers.

Spotify says it has kept 50 million AI spam tracks out of listeners' recommendations
Spotify said it removed more than 50 million songs it judged to be AI-generated slop or spam from recommendations over the past year, and changed its recommendation system to favor music made by people. It flags tracks using listener feedback, upload patterns, metadata and outside AI-detection tools, and says complaints about such music have fallen since. The figure follows the AI Persona badge Spotify announced in August for artists who are not real people; it still stops short of labeling every AI-made track, as YouTube Music now does.

Otter.ai takes 320 million dollars from General Catalyst without selling any shares
The meeting-transcription company raised the money from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund, which pays for a startup's marketing and takes a share of the returns rather than equity. Otter said it has reached 40 million users, up from 25 million a year ago, and will spend on enterprise sales and international growth. It last raised equity in 2021, and it now competes with Fireflies, Granola, Read AI and a growing list of notetakers built into other apps.
